About
Kym graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 2007. She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2008. Kym commenced practice in another Hobart Law Firm before leaving private practice to start a family. Kym has also completed a Bachelor of Nursing with First Class Honours in 1998 before completing a post graduate certificate in Paediatric Nursing and a post graduate diploma in Emergency Nursing. She has retained her registration as a Registered Nurse. She also has a Certificate IV in Government Investigations.
Kym has worked in various Government roles in Hobart and more recently at the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT). Kym is a current Non-Executive Director of Corumbene and is a current member of the Tasmanian Women Lawyers and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). She is currently completing the Company Director Course. Kym has recently been appointed as a member of the Law Society of Tasmania Litigation Committee
In the past Kym has sat on the former Mental Health Tribunal and as a Member of the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, in both the Guardianship Stream and the Mental Health Stream. She has previously sat on the National Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Advisory Committee on Complementary Medicines, the Tasmanian Pharmacy Authority (TPA) and as a Lawyer on the Tasmanian Human Research and Ethics Committee. Her previous Board roles include the Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania and Arthritis and Osteoporosis Tasmania.
Kym acts in a range of civil litigation areas, including personal injury, workers compensation, and motor accident claims. Kym brings a strong medicolegal background, with broad and in-depth knowledge of the private and public health sector, as well as experience in regulation, investigation and dispute resolution. She has particular expertise in AHPRA matters and coronial inquests. When Kym is not working (or studying) you will find her out on a mountain trail running, mountain biking, or doing a combination of both in adventure racing, as well as spending quality time with her husband Rob and twins.
