About

Kym graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 2007. She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2008 and commenced practice in another Hobart Law Firm before leaving private practice to start a family.

In addition to her law degree Kym has also completed a Bachelor of Nursing with First Class Honours in 1998, post graduate certification in Paediatric Nursing and a post graduate diploma in Emergency Nursing. She also has a Certificate IV in Government Investigations and has completed, and graduated from, the Australian Institute of Company Directors Company Director Course.

Kym has worked extensively in Government roles and previously at the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TASCAT). She was also a member on the former Mental Health Tribunal and the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, in both the Guardianship Stream and the Mental Health Stream, has previously sat as an advisory member on the National Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Advisory Committee on Complementary Medicines, the Tasmanian Pharmacy Authority (TPA), and as a Lawyer on the Tasmanian Human Research and Ethics Committee. In addition, she has held previous Board roles on Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania and Arthritis and Osteoporosis Tasmania and was a previous Non-Executive Director of Corumbene Care.

Kym is a current member of the Law Society of Tasmania Litigation Committee.

In practice, Kym acts in a range of civil litigation areas, including personal injury, workers compensation, and motor accident claims. Kym brings a strong medicolegal background, with broad and in-depth knowledge of the private and public health sector, as well as experience in regulation, investigation, AHPRA matters, coronial inquests and dispute resolution.
When Kym is not working you will find her out on a mountain trail running, mountain biking, or doing a combination of both in adventure racing, as well as spending quality time with her husband Rob and twins.
