Experience

Andrew Mead joined the firm in 20XX. Andrew specialises in family law, appearing regularly in both the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court in both property and parenting matters. He appears regularly in the Magistrates Court, (Children’s Division) as a child representative and applying for and defending Family Violence Act applications.

Andrew is a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association, the Law Society of Tasmania, the Family Law Council of Australia and UTAS Alumni. He currently sits on the Law Society’s Pro Bono, Mediation and Arbitration and Continuing Professional Development committees.

Background

Andrew has a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Tasmania. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in September 1998. He is also admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Australia.

Andrew has practised in numerous areas including criminal law, licensing, industrial relations, anti-discrimination, administrative appeals. He has appeared in the Family Court, Federal Circuit Court, Supreme Court, Full Court of the Supreme Court, Magistrates Court, Anti-Discrimination Tribunal and Commonwealth Industrial Relations Commission. He formerly prosecuted child protection matters on behalf of Tasmania Child Protection Authorities.
